When you're feeling overwhelmed the best strategies are the simplest ones. Don't dismiss these as to simple...research has shown that several of these strategies have the power to boost your mood and shift your focus to a more positive state.
Practice these strategies everyday and overtime they will help you shift from overwhelm to a feeling of calm. They will help move you from sympathetic nervous system, the body's response to a perceived threat the "fight or flight" to the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for the body's "rest and digest" function. Some stress is necessary, when you are feeling overwhelmed, pick one or try a few 5 minute strategies each day for at least a month to notice a shift in your mood and help improve your response to stress.
